About ICECAAQS2020

ICECAAQS 2020 Conference is a global conference of the of the International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) to be held in conjunction with the Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors and hosted by the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (an ICEC member association).

The conference is scheduled to be held from the 19th to the 21st of October 2020 in Accra, Ghana. The conference is expected to attract over 400 local and international participants from a variety of professions from a wide range of industries.

The Conference Logo

The logo of the ICEC-AAQS Conference 2020 is an Adinkra Symbol – Abe Dua (Palm Tree) with a ring of the three main institutions or Associations.

Adinkra symbols are a unique representation of cultural expressions, concepts, values and traditional mythology of the Akan people of Ghana and Gyaaman people of Ivory Coast.

The Adinkra Symbol – Abe Dua used in this logo represents Wealth, Resourcefulness and Self Sufficiency.

International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC)

The International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) is a non-political and non-profit organization which was founded in 1976 with the object of promoting cooperation between national and multinational cost engineering, quantity surveying and project management organizations worldwide for their mutual wellbeing and that of their individual members. The organisation is made up of four regions (Region 1 – North/South America, Region 2 – Europe/Near East, Region 3 – Africa & Region 4 – Asia Pacific). Its biennial Congress which is part of the upcoming ICECAAQS 2020 conference brings together its members from all over the world. ICEC has access to more than 300,000 cost engineers and project managers in over 120 different nations.

Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS)

The Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS) is an association for quantity surveyors practicing in Africa. The initial interest in its establishment began at a built environment congress in 1995 in Harare, Zimbabwe and in 1999 at Sun City in South Africa the first General Assembly of the Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors ratified a constitution with by-laws and the first council of the AAQS was elected with Mr Len Harris from South Africa the first president.

Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) – Quantity Surveying Division (QSD)

The forth coming ICECAAQS Conference is to be hosted by the The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) in the beautiful city of Accra, Ghana. GHIS was established on 28th February 1969 at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Ghana Branch of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with a formal inauguration of the Institution held on 28th August 1970. The three (3) main areas of Specialization in the Institution are: the Land Surveying (LS) Division, the Quantity Surveying (QS) Division and the Valuation and Estate Surveying (VES) Division
